PADI - Open Water Diver.


The PADI Open Water Diver course teaches student divers the foundational knowledge and skills they need to dive with a buddy, independent of supervision.

PADI Open Water Divers are qualified to:

  • Dive with a buddy independent of supervision while applying the knowledge and skills they learn in this course, within the limits of their training and experience.
  • Obtain air fills, scuba equipment and other services.
  • Plan, conduct and log open water no stop (no decompression) dives when properly equipped and when accompanied by a buddy in conditions with which they have training and/or experience.
  • Continue their dive training with a specialty dive (Adventure Dive), in the PADI Adventures in Diving program or in PADI Specialty courses.

 

Prerequisites
To participate in the PADI Open Water Diving program, an individual must:

  • 1. Be 10 years or older.
  • 2. Review, complete and sign the PADI Discover Scuba Diving affirmation of risk.
  • Parent or guardian signature required for new divers younger than legal age.
  • 3. Medical history screen
  • If the new diver answers “yes” to any condition on the form's medical history section, the diver must receive medical approval prior to any in-water activities.
